🚢 Route: Shanghai, China → Ukraine
📦 Cargo: SHINVA pharmaceutical equipment (sterilizer + laboratory drying oven), out-of-gauge
🏢 Client: a company specializing in engineering for the pharmaceutical and biotech industries
🚛 Transport type: 40′ Flat Rack by sea (Maersk) + specialized transport across Poland and Ukraine
✅ Result: delivered the oversized cargo in full compliance with all permit requirements
Client and task: Ukrautologistic Group was approached by a company specializing in turnkey design and engineering for the pharmaceutical, biotech, and veterinary industries. The request was specific: arrange the delivery of large-scale SHINVA pharmaceutical equipment from China to Ukraine. The consignment contained several units of different sizes — a sterilizer and a laboratory drying oven, each in its own wooden crate. It was clear from the dimensioning stage alone that a standard container wouldn’t work here.
The solution: For cargo like this, the only workable option is Flat Rack. We arranged shipment on Maersk 40′ Flat Rack platforms (45P3) out of the Port of Shanghai. A Flat Rack is a container with no side walls or roof — just a platform with end posts. Crates of varying heights were loaded onto the platform and secured with orange lashing straps around the full perimeter; the larger units were additionally covered with a green tarpaulin and protective netting to shield them from moisture during the sea crossing.
Permits and clearances: Out-of-gauge cargo is not simply “large cargo.” It means a separate package of documents and approvals for each leg of the route. For Poland and Ukraine, we have already prepared the permits for specialized transport movement and are arranging the corresponding escort for when the containers arrive at port.
Result: As this case study is being prepared, the cargo is in transit. What mattered to the client was a turnkey solution: from selecting the container type and securing the load correctly to obtaining entry permits for Poland and Ukraine. That is exactly what Ukrautologistic Group delivered at the shipment-planning stage.
